Although nothing can beat a homemade dessert, sometimes we don’t have the free time we need to make it happen. While it would be great to always have fresh cakes and pies for the whole family to eat, does anybody really want to make the dough? With that in mind, we’ve gathered some of the easiest and most delicious dessert recipes we could find on the internet: all you need to do is throw them in the microwave. With that in mind, here are the 10 most delicious microwave desserts.
If you’re a fan of miniature lava cakes or any other chocolatey dessert, this recipe is an absolute must. Rather than going through all the work to make a full cake, this one has you put all the ingredients in a mug, microwave it and dig in when it’s done. Believe us—it tastes just as good as something that takes much, much longer to put together.
1/4 cup of flour
1/4 cup of brown sugar
2 tablespoons of unsweetened cocoa powder
2 tablespoons of mild vegetable oil
2 tablespoons of milk, coffee or water

pinch of salt
To get started, throw all your dry ingredients in a heatproof mug and stir them up until they’re evenly combined. Add in your oil and milk as well and mix it into a thick paste. Although not everyone likes popcorn any other way except smothered in butter, caramel popcorn is still a delicious treat that you can make right at home. Obviously, you already know how to make plain popcorn using a microwave so adding this sweet topping is the logical next step. Here’s what you do:
1/2 cup of un-popped popcorn
1/2 cup of brown sugar
1/4 cup of butter
2 tablespoons of light corn syrup
1/4 teaspoon of kosher salt (plus extra)
1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon of baking soda
Start by popping about half a cup of corn kernels and putting them in a paper bag. After that, put your brown sugar, butter, corn syrup and salt in a safe microwaveable container—if you something that you can pour out of afterwards, those containers are ideal. Microwave it on high for a minute before giving it a stir. Microwave it for another minute until the caramel is boiling before adding baking soda and vanilla into it. Mix it all up and pour it over the popcorn in the bag. Shake it up, seal the bag and microwave it all again for another minute. Take it out and shake the bag very vigorously before cooking it for one more minute, shaking again. Finally, pour the popcorn onto a rimmed cookie sheet and sprinkle it with a little bit of kosher salt. Break it up if it’s clumped together and enjoy!

9. Chocolate Chip Cookies
Is there anything more delicious than homemade chocolate chip cookies? Although these are one of my all-time favorite treats, making the dough from scratch can be a pain—and pre-made dough just won’t cut it. Fortunately, there’s a way to make a small batch of homemade chocolate chip cookies using only the microwave. So here’s what you do.
1 tablespoon of butter
4 tablespoons of flour
1 tablespoon of sugar
1 tablespoon of brown sugar
1 tablespoon of egg, whisked
1/4 teaspoon of vanilla extract
1 tablespoon of semi-sweet chocolate chips
Start by microwaving your butter in a mug and melt it for about 40 seconds until it melts. Add the rest of the ingredients in except for the chocolate chips and mix everything up until it forms a dough. When that’s done, stir in your chocolate chips. Press the dough into the bottom of the mug or arrange the batter into a cookie shape onto a plate on a sheet of parchment paper. At the end of everything, cook it in the microwave for 50 seconds and let it cool off for a few minutes before eating!
We bet you didn’t know that you could make Rice Krispie treats in the microwave, did you? As it turns out, it’s very easy to make them! This recipe is the perfect dessert to round out this list and couldn’t be simpler to put together. If you ever wanted a quick dessert that will take you back to childhood, this is the one to make. So let’s get started.
4 tablespoons of butter
1 bag of mini-marshmallows
6 cups of Rice Krispies
2 cups of Kix cereal
12 Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups
Start by spraying down a baking tray and cutting up your peanut butter cups into roughly six pieces. Get out a big bowl and mix together your cereal and chopped peanut butter cups. Next, combine your butter and marshmallows in a microwave-safe bowl and microwave it for 30 seconds. Stir it all up with a spoon until it forms a gooey creme mixture, microwaving again for 10 seconds if necessary as it firms up. Finally, pour the marshmallow mix over your cereal and stir everything up until it’s all evenly coated. Move the mixture into your baking dish and press it down into a layer. Cover it, put it in the fridge for about 30 minutes and cut it into squares when it’s set!
As you can see, there’s really no limit to the number of delicious desserts you can make by simply using a microwave. For any normal baked good that you would usually make in the oven, there’s probably a way to convert it into something that takes less time and tastes just as delicious.
