Adam Mitchel Lambert rose to fame in 2009 after finishing as a runner up on American Idol. He has released four solo albums and he also fronts for the legendary rock band, Queen.

When a man is selected to front a band of that stature and sing the songs made famous by Freddie Mercury, you know he’s something else. Many have described Adam’s voice as having unbelievable range with maturity and sensitivity behind the depth of his tone.

A true rock star.

At the 41st Annual Kennedy Center Honors, Adam took the stage as a solo artist singing Cher’s “Believe“. You know Cher! She was one half of the duo Sonny & Cher, gaining popularity in 1965. She is known as the “Goddess of Pop” and aside from her music career has appeared in Broadway and films.

Take it away, Mr. Lambert!

The curtains part to an applauding audience and Adam immediately hits the first verse.

“No matter how hard I try
You keep pushing me aside
And I can’t break through
There’s no talking to you”

No flamboyant outfit tonight. Just a black suit and that awesome voice!

Even online viewers were stunned.

“I could watch that a hundred times and never get tired of it. So simple, with such ease and perfection.”

Says a fan named Tina while another one named Barbara says,

“That voice hits every note with an unparalleled accuracy. He sings from, and to, the heart. Thank you A.L.!”

Even Cher is impressed.

Yes, she’s there watching in stunned silence at the raw talent of Adam. Cher wipes away a few tears from her eyes the moment Adam hits an insanely high note. No wonder he sings for Queen.

It’s a very formal audience but even the men are smiling and nodding their heads in approval of Adam’s ridiculous range. And being true to himself, Adam puts the cherry on the sundae. He sings the word enough but elevates it three times, hitting three different notes, each one higher than the last.

That’s the Adam Lambert everyone loves!

He pauses, sings a few more lines, stares out at his audience and they shower him with applause and a standing ovation from none other than Cher herself. The world is definitely his stage!

You can see his influences when he performs. There’s Madonna, Michael Jackson, David Bowie, and lots of seventies rock and roll.

He will rock you.

Believe” was released in 1998. It’s a song that talks about breaking up but still being able to be self sufficient while empowering one’s self. He took the song and put his own little spin on it turning the Cher original into a Lambert special.

The outfits he chooses always tell a story. It all depends where he’s performing, the mood of the event, and the song. Adam loves tattoos and his arms and torso are covered with them. The man is an artist, a genius, and truly out of this world amazing.
