Are you a miniature foodie? No, that doesn’t mean you have a tiny appetite – it means you have an obsession with miniature foods that you probably can’t even explain yourself.

Let’s face it, mini foods are no different from their full-sized brothers and sisters. But there’s something sweet about tiny donut cereal or shrunken croissants.

For reasons none of us quite know, the mini food trend really took off in 2020.

On TikTok, we saw people making cereal out of all sorts of tiny breakfast foods, including pancakes, waffles, donuts and croissants.

It was only breakfast food that was given this treatment, though there have been a few tiny pizza and burger creations knocking around on the internet, too.

You might think you’ve seen it all before – but wait. Have you ever seen mini-fried eggs?

Clearly, you don’t need these in your life. You could just eat normal fried eggs for breakfast, like most people. But something drew you to this article, so you’re probably as excited about these adorable little eggs as we are!

You’re not using special tiny eggs for this job. You’ll just need normal-sized chicken eggs, and with a bit of simple handiwork, you’ll be able to segment them into super-cute mini versions of themselves.

YouTuber Dave Hax created a video tutorial for making this itty-bitty breakfast dish, that’s sure to delight your family and guests.

You’ll need some advanced planning for this recipe. Start by leaving your eggs in the freezer overnight.

The next day, remove your eggs and run each one under warm water, long enough to warm up the shell to allow you to crack it and separate it from the egg.

Now you’ll have three frozen, shell-less eggs. They’ll be pretty slippery, so handle with care!

Next, carefully cut each frozen egg into slices.

The eggs should still be soft enough to cut, even when they’re frozen.

You’ll probably want to wash your hands at this point. Once you’ve cleaned up, warm a frying pan on a low heat.

Take your egg slices and place them into the pan.

Depending on the size of the pan, you might only want to cook four or five mini eggs at a time.

The eggs will expand as they cook, so you want to leave enough room to prevent them from overlapping one another.

And that’s it – job done!

You might have assumed that making mini eggs took skill, but really, you only need a bit of patience.

Once your eggs have frozen, the hardest job is carefully cutting them into slices. Then, you just fry them as usual and enjoy.

You know how to eat fried eggs, right?

For a simple breakfast, pop your miniature creations on a couple of slices of buttery toast. You could also add the eggs to a healthier breakfast salad bowl with some mashed avo, grilled mushrooms and roasted tomatoes.

Of course, you could go all-out if you wanted and pair your eggs with miniature strips of bacon, sausages, and beans, English breakfast style – but that might be too much fuss for an early morning!

Don’t forget to snap a pic of your miniature eggs in all their glory before tucking in.

No, they might not be a life-changing invention, but you have to admit, they’re pretty cute.
