Solomita’s video demonstration on how to make Oreos is broken into three parts: making the cookies, creating the filling, and then merging them together.

“I’ve making cakes before. I’ve made pies before. But I’ve never made a cookie sandwich, which is what an Oreo is really,” Solomita said in his video demonstration. “My plan is to make Double Stuf Oreos and Triple Stuff Oreos.”

Before he began his demonstration, Solomita also revealed that he’s previously made Doritos, Lay’s potato chips, and Cheez-Its.

“I’m pretty excited to make Oreos because I feel like this is another one of those recipes where were deconstructing otherwise pretty simple food,” he added.

How to make Oreos in your own kitchen

Now it’s time to make the cookies! For this first phase, you’ll need a big mixing bowl, whisk, and a stand mixer.

Start by preheating your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Add the flour, Hershey’s Special Dark Cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt into the mixing bowl. Then whisk it together and set it aside.

Now it’s time to add the wet ingredients into the stand mixer bowl. Put room temperature butter, brown sugar, and granulated white sugar into the bowl and mix the ingredients together. Next drop in the eggs, oat milk, and vanilla and continue mixing.

Next add all of the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients mixing bowl. Continue mixing. Now, put the cookie dough onto the cookie sheet. Make sure it’s lined with parchment paper. Scoop up about 1 tablespoon of cookie dough, roll it into a ball, and place it on the cookie sheet. Fill up the cookie sheet

Bake for about 6 to 7 minutes, or longer if you like your cookies crunchier.

Now, it’s time to prepare the ingredients for the cookie cream. Start by putting the shortening/coconut oil and butter into the stand mixer bowl. Mix it up. Then add the vanilla, milk, sugar. Mix it up. Next, put the cream filling into a piping bag.

Once the cookies are done baking, let them cool down before applying the filling. Place the cookies onto a wire rack, which allows the cookies to cool on both sides.

Once the cookies are completely cool, turn them over because you will be adding the filling onto the flattest side of the cookie. Use the piping bag to add the cream filling to half of the cookies. When you’re done, put the other half of the cookie on top of the filling.

This recipe yields about 18 Oreo cookies.
