Looking for a dish that will warm you up without being too heavy.
Well, have we got a dish for you!
This spicy garlic shrimp recipe has just the right amount of spice for heat while being light and still packed with protein.
The most important thing about this recipe is making sure you don’t screw up the shrimp.
Overcooked shrimp can taste rubbery and tough.
But if you follow this chef’s recipe, you’ll be able to cook your shrimp perfectly every single time.
First, you’ll have to prep your shrimp.
If they have heads, take them off.
You’ll also have to devein your shrimp if they aren’t already deveined.
You can always save the shells and the heads of your shrimp to make a stock.
Heat up your oil in a skillet on medium-high heat and toss your red pepper flakes in when your oil is heated.
This will give your dish some proper heat but you can also use fresh pepper or cayenne too. Next, you’ll add your garlic to the oil.
If you’re a fan of lots of garlic, you’ll have a second dish after your shrimp is gone if you dip your bread into the oil and eat up those extra garlic chunks.
And all that garlic is what makes this dish simply mouth-watering.
Now, you’ll add your shrimp to the garlic and peppered oil and cook for about three minutes. Whatever you do, do not overcook your shrimp! Otherwise, you run the risk of them tasting rubbery if they cook for too long.
Just before you take your shrimp out, you’ll want to throw in your paprika, salt, and pepper.
Your skillet should be taken off of the heat when the shrimp start to color and curl up.
Last, add your lemon juice and fresh chopped parsley before you serve with thick slices of fresh bread. This dish has a lot of oil so make sure to serve it in a bowl. The fresh parsley and fresh bread are really going to give your bowl the kick it needs to feel like an elevated dish.
Here’s how to make it…
- 2 lbs. of shrimp
- 1/2 cup of olive oil
- 1/2 cup of finely chopped garlic (or more if you prefer)
- 1 tsp. of red pepper flakes
- 2 tsp. of paprika
- salt and pepper to taste
- 1/2 cup of chopped parsley
- fresh sliced bread
Step 1) Peel and devein your shrimp
Step 2) Place some olive oil in a skillet and place on medium-high heat
Step 3) Add some pepper flakes in when your oil is heated
Step 4) Now you can add your garlic to the heated oil. Saute your garlic for about one minute
Step 5) Toss in your shrimp and saute fon medium-high heat.
Step 6) Next, give your dish some flavor with salt, pepper, and paprika.
Step 7) The shrimp should cook for only three minutes. Remove them from the heat when they start to color and curl
Step 8) Add in your lemon juice and fresh chopped parsley
Step 9) Mix everything together well and serve in a bowl with thick slices of fresh bread
That bowl just looks SO darn delicious. I want to sop that garlic up with that bread.
Who needs pasta when you have a bowl full of protein-filled shrimp?!
