Is there anything more instantaneously mouth-watering than bacon?
How is it that a few thin slices of pork can turn any boring breakfast into a banquet, or a simple burger into a delicious moment?
There’s no denying that bacon is a shortcut to flavor…big flavor.
They say that no food cannot be improved by adding bacon, and we’re inclined to agree.
YouTube food channel For Us Foodies, has done some important leg work for all of us, and come up with the perfect way to cook bacon every time. Their method takes a little more time than others but makes that perfect, crispy bacon every time.
The first step is to cut your bacon in half.
This might seem strange, but it gives you smaller strips, which allows them to cook more evenly and render the fat.
Us a small pan.
This is the next particular step to cook your bacon perfectly. Using a smaller pan rather than baking or using a giant skillet. Preheat your pan, BUT make sure you make it a medium heat. This is the other key point: allowing your bacon to cook on medium heat, slower, will give the fat time to render so that the bacon can cook in its own oil.
One side at a time.
Instead of furiously stirring your bacon around the hopes of cooking each piece evenly, lay each strip down and do one side at a time. Flipping isn’t just for burgers!
Fry each side for 2-3 minutes.
Flippin’ great mate!
Flip your bacon and fry the other side for another 2-3 minutes.
Your strips should be developing some beautiful brown crispy edges.
Remove your first strips and lay them on a paper towel.
While grease is your friend in the pan, you want to drain excess oil from the strips themselves.
Now, you should have a healthy wee pool of grease in which to fry your next strips of bacon.
Fry up the rest of your strips.
In small batches, place just a few strips in and do not overcrowd the pan. Remember, slow and steady wins the race, and in this case, that means getting every bacon strip just right.
Repeat the process of cooking the strips how you did for the first round.
Grease pot.
Hopefully, your small pan will have enough grease in it to make sure that your bacon is sufficiently submerged to fry evenly.
The more bacon you add, the more grease you can build up!
And there you have it!
At the end of this process, you’ll have a plate full of bacon that’ll have the whole family drooling!
Each strip will be crisped throughout and evenly cooked. Maximum flavor in every bite!
