Croissants and waffles are two of everyone’s favorite desserts. The batter-based snacks make for both great breakfasts and spectacular desserts. Waffles themselves are also incredibly versatile, pairing with everything from hotdogs to chocolate.

And since croissants and waffles are so simple to make, it was only a matter of time before we combined the two. Croissant waffles, anyone?

After all, they’re both made from batter. Croissant waffles are definitely something I’d consider trying, if only some food places made them.

Well, Kuang Ffle, a food business in Hongdae, Seoul, South Korea makes them. With some batter, a waffle-maker, and a bit of time and love, you can make them too.

The place advertises itself as a waffles and coffee spot. It should be no surprise then, that they’re pretty good at making things to pair with coffee. Now, we can see how this traditionally crescent-shaped treat can still work when given the pancake treatment.

First things first, get the croissant-shaped dough and coat them in sugar.

Some tongs and a wide container are necessary here. Make as many as you plan to serve. The croissants don’t need to be absolutely coated in the sugar. You’ll just want a nice even coat.

You can fix lack of sweetness rather easily. But when you make something too sweet, there’s usually no going back from there. Just something to keep in mind.

Next step is to put them in the waffle maker. The machine will take it from here for this step.

Put as many as you can fit in there and close the lid like you normally would. Let them cook in there for as long as you would with normal waffles.

When the timer goes off, it’s time to open the lid and flip them over to let the other side cook too.

Since they’ve already been pressed into shape, you should have no trouble flipping them over properly. The waffle pattern on them will make them sit snug and firm onto the waffle machine’s surface.

Most waffle machines are designed to cook several at once. So if you can make a whole batch of them (and let’s face it, why shouldn’t you?) then go for it.

Now to top them with something. Luckily, you have quite a lot of options here!

Craving something savory, or something to satisfy that sweet tooth? You can go for melted cheese in the toaster, or some cream and sugar heated to brown.

If you’re a bit more old-fashioned, you can also opt for syrup and butter instead. Whatever you throw at these waffles, they’ll work with it.

Just a few things you could try include a slice of cheese, whipped cream and chocolate, strawberry jam, chocolate syrup, and good old simple butter.

You can even get a bit bolder and put a scoop of ice cream on there like Kuang Ffle did here.

And most importantly, make enough of them to go around. Good food is always best enjoyed with friends and family. Making something for other people to eat is always a fun little exercise in showing that you care.
