Foreigner reunites for magical live rendition of “I Want To Know What Love Is”

October 27th, 2020

It’s a British-American rock band that was originally formed in New York City back in 1976.

English musician Mick Jones has been leading the band since the beginning, and he came up with the band’s name because he, McDonald, and Dennis Elliott are British, while Gramm, Al Greenwood, and Ed Gagliardi are American.

Over the more than 40 years since the band was established, the band’s members have also changed.

Foreigner is still being lead by Jones and its current members are Kelly Hansen (lead vocalist), Thom Gimbel, Chris Frazier, Michael Bluestein, Bruce Watson, Jeff Pilson.

It’s another milestone for them so they decided to make it extra special.

They gave their old and new fans the treat of a lifetime by gathering their members both from the past and present.

It’s actually the first time that the original members of the band did a performance together with its current members. It’s an all-out spectacular performance from the band’s different generations.

Present were the band’s original members, Lou Gramm, Dennis Elliott, Al Greenwood, and Ian McDonald. It’s probably one of the best reunions ever made in the history of music. It’s a rare moment when all of them were jamming and just plainly having fun.

They sang an astounding rendition of their biggest hit single, “I Want To Know What Love Is.”

It’s the lead single from Foreigner’s 1984 fifth studio album. And there’s no better song to sing at such an important gathering.

The excitement was all over the place, not only from the band members but also from the audience. They’re cheering and screaming non-stop, and we can’t blame them for it. It’s just the typical reaction that you’d get from an audience standing before a great group of musicians.

Before they even start, Hansen hypes the crowd up and says, “everybody should reach out and put their arm around somebody.”

Why not? After all, the song’s message is about finding the true meaning of love. The second that Hansen started singing, we were immediately blown away.

The vocal prowess that he has is so powerful that it can push anyone up from their seat, even now.

Of course, Gramm wouldn’t just let Hansen have it his way.

For the record, there’s no competition here, everything is for the benefit of the people and music. Lou proves to us all that age is just a number as he belts out his parts of the song. He is just as good as when the band started, nothing seems to have changed.

He is one of the band’s pioneers and it simply shows why. The band shows what music is all about, more than just the money and fame, it’s about the love for the art.

Together, they create an immaculate performance!

It’s definitely a grand celebration and we are all lucky to witness them perform through the years. Four decades and counting, it is something that not everyone can achieve.

Foreigner is so good that they can afford to switch lead vocalists and other band members without compromising the quality and outcome of their songs.

This magical performance goes beyond just singing.

It is a reunion of great musicians and we will be forever thankful for the wonderful gift of music that they always give us with every performance that they make.
