This quick recipe was shared by Scrumdiddlyumptious and is about as simple as it gets – you just need a few basic ingredients and a bread pan!

As they say in the caption, there’s absolutely no reason why you should restrict certain cooking utensils for certain purposes. Who said loaf pans could only be used for bread and cake?

In this case, you just need to combine cheese, potatoes, ground beef, spinach, tomatoes, and more cheese.

Sounds good, right? It takes virtually no effort on your part, too.

Once you’ve loaded everything into the dish, it takes an hour to cook, which gives you a bit of time to do your own thing before dinner’s ready.

Here’s what you’ll need:

5 large Golden potatoes

Provolone, cheddar, swiss, or another favorite type of sliced cheese

1 Tablespoon of Olive oil

1 large onion, chopped

1 clove of garlic, minced or crushed

1 lb of ground beef

2 teaspoons of paprika powder

1 can (14 oz.) of diced tomatoes

1 teaspoon of pepper

1 teaspoon of salt

1 cup (packed) fresh spinach leaves

2 Tablespoons of parsley for garnish

Step 1- Make the potato layer

Before you do anything, preheat your oven to 375°F and grease a 12″ x 4″ loaf pan. Then take your potatoes, peel them, and thinly slice them.

Take your potato slices and line them along the bottom and the sides of your loaf pan.

Step 2- Make the cheesy layer

Now for the cheese! The recipe would be nowhere near as delicious without cheese, so make sure you’re well-stocked. You need to completely cover the potato lining – both the base and sides – with slices of cheese.

Go for whichever cheese you prefer, but for a melted stringy effect, Provolone or Mozzarella are your best options.

Step 3- Make the filling

With your cheesy potato layer prepared, you can now start on the meat. Take a pan and add a dash of olive oil, then heat on medium. Add the onions, letting them cook down for a moment, then add the garlic.

Cook until the onions are translucent and the garlic is fragrant, then add the ground beef and paprika seasoning. Cook until browned.

Step 3- Add your flavor

Next up, add the diced tomatoes to your pan and stir to mix your ingredients thoroughly. Add a sprinkle of salt and pepper to taste, then finally add your spinach and stir until slightly wilted.

Turn the heat down to low and leave the dish to simmer for 10 minutes, which will incorporate those flavors.

Step 4- Transfer from pan to dish

Using a large spoon, transfer the mixture into the loaf pan until the entire bottom portion is covered.

Next up, add a layer of potatoes on top of the mixture – a bit like a lasagne layer – then add another layer of cheese. Get creative with your cheese choices here, if you like.

Step 5- Fill the dish

Continue to layer the beef and tomato mixture, the potatoes and the cheese until you reach the top of your potato lining in the loaf pan.

Finally, add any spare potatoes along the side of the pan to reach the very top. Add a final layer of potato slices and cheese to top the dish off.

Step 6: Bake

Pop the pan in your preheated oven and bake at 375℉ for 1 hour and 10 minutes. Remove when the time is up and place on a cooling rack for 10 to 15 minutes, Finish by garnishing with parsley.
