If you’ve been spending much time on cooking blogs or other websites, you probably know that Bundt pan recipes seem to be making a comeback recently. For anyone who doesn’t know, Bundt pans are the larger, donut-shaped cake tins that are often used to make coffee cakes and other delicious dishes. While many of these recipes are finding unusual ways to use these pans for savory dishes, today we have an old-fashioned Bundt pan recipe that is one of the best we’ve tried.

Today, we’re going to make a delicious brown sugar praline cake that might remind you of something your grandma used to make. While the cake batter is relatively straightforward, the final frosting and toppings make the end result one of the best things we’ve tasted in a long time. Still, this recipe is incredibly easy to make and is perfect for your own family or for any parties you might have coming up. Once you make this, we guarantee you’ll want to have it again and again. So let’s get started.

Here’s what you’ll need:

Cake:

  • 1 package of moist yellow or butter pecan cake mix
  • 1 cup of water
  • 3/4 cup of vegetable oil
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons of cinnamon

Swirl:

  • 1 cup of finely chopped pralines
  • 1/4 cup of brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons of cinnamon

Icing:

  • 1 cup of powdered sugar
  • 1 cup of brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup of unsalted butter
  • 1 cup of chopped pecans
  • 1/4 cup of milk
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla

Here’s what you do:

1. To get started, preheat your oven to 350. After that, get out a Bundt pan and grease it up with butter or non-stick spray. Once that’s ready, get out a mixing bowl and pour in your cake mix and cinnamon, stirring the two together.

2. After that, add your water, vegetable oil and eggs into the dry mix and stir it together until it is smooth and well-incorporated. After that’s done, get out another mixing bowl and combine your pecans, brown sugar and cinnamon to make your swirl.

3. Next, pour about half of your cake batter into the Bundt pan and add your brown sugar pecan swirl mix on top of that evenly. When that’s in there, add the rest of your batter on top of it as well.

4. When that’s ready, pop the Bundt pan in the oven and let bake for 55 to 65 minutes. When the time is up, take it out and do the toothpick test to make sure it’s cooked all the way through. Throughout the baking process, however, you can start making your icing!

5. To make your icing, get out a saucepan and set it over medium heat. Add your brown sugar, butter and milk to the pan and heat it all up until it boils. Let it cook for a minute or two until it turns thick before stirring in your powdered sugar until it all turns smooth. Finally, add your vanilla and set it aside to cool.

Although the ingredients in this recipe are straightforward, the end result is truly delicious. The cake itself turns out moist and perfect—but it’s the frosting on top that takes it all to another level. The recipe has a tasty and sweet flavor that fits perfectly for dessert and as coffee cake with breakfast. As always, have fun with this recipe and let us know how it all turns out!
