Woman shares simple recipe for homemade caramel-covered custard

This is a caramel lover’s dream dessert.

This is one recipe that has received a lot of attention online and for very good reason. It is smooth, silky, and ‘Dolce de Leche’ delicious.

Melt 100 grams or 1/2 cup of unsalted butter in a medium saucepan.

Add flour to the melted butter.

After the butter is melted and just beginning to bubble, add 120 grams or 1/2 cup plus 1.5 tbs of flour. Whisk the flour and butter until completely incorporated.

Add milk.

Gradually add 1 liter of milk to the melted butter and flour mixture. Pour in a little at a time and whisk continuously.

Add your sugar.

When you’ve finished adding the milk, add 80 grams of white sugar. Continue whisking and add in 1 tsp of vanilla extract.

Thicken the cream.

Continue whisking until the cream starts to thicken.

Pour the custard into a bowl or cake pan.

After cooling the cream, pour it into a bowl or pan and then chill for 30 minutes.

Mix cornstarch and water.

In a separate bowl, add 1 tbs of cornstarch and about 20 ml of water. Still until combined and set aside.

Heat the sugar.

Using a non-stick pan, cook 90 grams of sugar on low heat.

Add water.

When the sugar is brown and bubbling, add 1/4 cup of water to the pan and stir.

Time to add your cornstarch mixture.

Add the cornstarch mixture to the pan and stir until fully combined.
