The recipe says it confidently: “This ain’t your mama’s meatloaf, folks!”

Sure, we all remember the meatloaf of our childhood. Sometimes the budget was short, and there was probably not a lot of experimenting with flavors. We’ve found this recipe from Scrumdiddlyumptious. Prepare fresh meat, cheese, garlic, and eggs. Now, let’s get to the business.

A little bit more about the ingredients

After revealing the glorious four, we have to provide a bit more detailed list. Separate the ingredients for the meatloaf from those for the filling.

For meatloaf, you’ll need 1½ lbs ground beef, half a cup of bread crumbs, 2 eggs, 1 diced onion, 2 minced garlic cloves, and some salt and pepper.

To prepare the filling, grab 2-3 ham slices, herb cream cheese, 3-4 Gouda or Swiss cheese slices, and 3 eggs.

Before doing anything, preheat the oven to 350⁰, and grease a loaf pan with butter

You’ll need the oven to be ready soon because this meal won’t take up much of your time. Make sure to take a loaf pan that’s not too small, nor too big. It would be ideal to be around 9×5 inches. After greasing it, swirl some bread crumbs around.

Let them stick to the butter. That way, the meat won’t stick to the loaf pan.

Now, take a large bowl and mix the ground beef, the rest of the bread crumbs, eggs, onion, salt, and pepper

The next step is to transfer the mixture to the greased loaf pan. Take a tall glass and press it horizontally into the meat. The goal is to get an indent in the middle. Take ham slices, and line them in the indent.

Then cover the ham with herb cream cheese, now line up those Gouda slices, and finally, crack those eggs on top of it all. The photo shows how it should look like when you’re done. Put it in the oven, and wait about an hour. Serve it with potatoes, or salad.

Now comes the fun part. Take the aluminum foil and a bunch of slices of bacon. Line those slices as if you were about to braid them (check out the photo to get a better idea).

Spread the meat over the bacon, create a nice thick layer of meat, and then cover it with slices of cheese, ham, and salami.

Place three boiled eggs on top, and then wrap it all up. Bake about an hour without taking the foil off. The result will be a crispy, delicious meal.
