And if you’re worried about this recipe being a “cake,” you shouldn’t be because this recipe does not need an oven.

Curious? Prepare everything you need, and let’s get started!

The ingredients

For the caramelized bananas:

  • 3 large bananas
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 1 tbsp sugar

For the cake batter:

  • 1 egg
  • A pinch of salt
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 8g vanilla sugar
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 8g baking powder
  • 1 tsp vinegar

Some cookware utensils you would need

This recipe requires minimal cookware and utensils.

The most important thing to note is that they used a 10-inch pan in this video. This would matter because it must fit all the bananas laid down, and it may affect the thickness of your cake.

Other utensils you would need are a mixing bowl, sifter, whisk, and a spatula.

Preparing the bananas

First, slice the three bananas into halves and set them aside.

Next, take the pan and melt the butter on low heat. Add a tablespoon of sugar and let it caramelize.

Place the banana halves in the pan and turn off the heat to let it cool. You can set this aside for now.

Making the cake batter

Now it’s time to make the cake batter. The entire process is simple and a bit repetitive as it requires constant mixing or whisking.

Add the egg, salt, sugar, and vanilla sugar to the bowl and whisk them until they are well-mixed. Pour in the vegetable oil and milk and mix them every time you add an ingredient.

Then, sift the all-purpose flour, cocoa, and baking powder into the mixture. Mix all ingredients together until it becomes a smooth batter. Lastly, add the vinegar and mix.

First, pour the batter into the cooled-down pan of bananas. Make sure to even it out and that it is equally distributed throughout the pan.

Cover the pan and cook on low heat for 15-20 minutes. You can do the “toothpick test” to make sure the cake is cooked.
